I've moved

Hi, thanks for dropping by - I've moved over to wordpress and I'm no longer maintaining this one.
Please head over to http://24heuer.com cheers, Andy...

3 foot drop - before and after!

Yesterday one of my boys reached onto the table to grab my mobile phone.
He didn't realise my Bremont MB was parked on top of it and the worst happened,
The Bremont fell to the floor!
A stone floor!
Face down!

Before -
 After -
Zero difference!
No damage whatsoever :-)
Brilliant Bremont :-)

More PVD...

I thought I was selling this one.
But, after a few near misses it's still here and after a week on the wrist I'm thinking maybe for good this time :-)

Friday 22 November 2013

TFI Friday!

About the only thing that'll keep the Bremont off my wrist just now!

End of Summer Project - Monaco 1533B

Here's my latest project.

First impressions;
Movement - Cal 15 running pretty well and hasn't lost more than a minute in the last 12 hours :-)
Dial - Obvious melted gasket problem and also a bit bent around 9 o'clock.
Hands - H/M and small chrono hands are great. Sweeping seconds and chrono seconds hands are incorrect.
Case - Pretty good considering. The pushers are clearly shot and the start/stop pin had dropped inside preventing easy removal of the movement - I guess this was the cause of the bent dial(?)
Overall not too bad and providing I can source the parts, well worth fixing :-)

P.S. anyone got a spare dial?

Omega Speedmaster 176.0012

So I missed my Lemania 5100 powered Heuer 510.501 and recent searches for a replacement proved fruitless.
Expanding the search to other brands turned up little of interest - all way overpriced and dodgy looking.
I then discovered this Omega - same movement but rebranded the Omega Cal 1045.
I really like it and for a fraction of the cost of the Porsche Design , Sinn or Tutima out there it's a bargain :-)
Sure, the grain maybe isn't as starburst as it could be, but who cares...I plan to swap the day disc for a French one and...little else really, for now anyway.
It's also been pointed out that mega cool Porsche guy, Magnus Walker, also sports this model :-)
Check it out here
And if that's not cool enough for you, check out his Urban Outlaw video for some cracking Porsches.

Autavia 11630 black subdials

Swapped the dial on this one yesterday :-)
This is the latest incarnation of my tinkering watch.
It started life as a 11630 with a Viceroy dial and hands.
Several regenerations later and I'm happy with this setup - for a while anyway :-)

Project 2446c GMT Complete!

Well, for now anyway :-)
Really happy with the results!
Love the bracelet too.

Project 2446c GMT nearly ready!

Here are the latest photos following the movement service and installation of the new sub-dial hands by Rich Askham. Can't wait to get it back now and fit the correct G/F bracelet I managed to source.

And, here's a reminder of how it looked when I found it...
NB The 'after' photos are Rich's, edited by me.

844/3 sorted!

Big thanks to James Hyman for all his efforts in sorting this one out for me.
Aside from fixing the screw down crown he also fixed the keyless works, swapped the glass/gasket and relumed the bezel dot. Top bloke! Excellent work :-)

Heuer Divers 844/3 - I'd forgotten how nice these were :-)

Automatic, water-resistant to 200M, screw down crown, jubilee bracelet and hard as nails :-)

Breitling 1806-M, correct box.

So after a quick post over at the Breitling forum here someone came up with the correct box for my Navitimer :-)
Arrived today and looks fantastic!
Thanks Michael - much appreciated.
I've switched the strap over to a 22mm Swiss Tropic as per the 1806-M in the Breitling brochure.

Automatic Breakthrough - Motor Sport August '70

I particularly like this bit -
"I have worn it whilst swimming, motor-racing, sailing and diving, and still it looks as good as new and works. At least this was so until a month ago."
Fantastic :-)

Chuffed to bits with this one :-)

Immaculate PVD :-) Breitling Navitimer 1806-M
Just arrived from Stockholm this morning - complete with box, hang-tag and Navitimer user manual.

Tuesday 30 April 2013

Thinking of selling this one...

I do like this watch however I'm just too scared to wear it as it's so minty :-)

Autavia 2446c GMT - nearly done...

So, new bezel, crown, Hour, Minute and GMT hands fitted.
I needed to fit a new stem to take the crown as the original was too small.
Also chopped the tails off the subdial hands.
Looks way better but still not done.
The dial is pretty dirty and I do need to replace those chrono hands, but anyway, getting there :-)

Autavia 2446c GMT - Project update...

So last night I thought I'd take a closer look at the hands.
Turns out my spares aren't great and I don't have any subdial hands kicking around.
As a temporary measure I cut the tails off the 2 x chrono hands.
Anyway, here's what it's looking like with a bezel sitting on top.
Unfortunately the bezel is for a later case so will need to be swapped for the correct one.
I have a lead on a bezel so what I need now is the subdial hands and a crown.
Oh yeah, been running 24 hours and only lost a couple of minutes so far :-)

Worth saving?....Autavia 2446c GMT

Most definitely YES!
Picked this up last week, listed as a non-runner and looking in a pretty bad way.
The winding crown wouldn't budge so I feared the worst.
Once I'd managed to free the broken GMT hand from under the second sweep hand though, it's wee heart started beating again and the decision to save was confirmed :-)

Next to a cousin you can spot a few differences...

Now the tricky but fun part as the shopping list includes a bezel and a crown. Thankfully I have the hands already.

11630T Silver - Loving it!

Back on the orange theme but this time with a silver dial!
Amazing grain and detail.

Been tinkering again!

So I've been mixing things up again :-)
I love my 11630T but fancied a bit of a change so its now sporting orange hands and a 'P' bezel.
I do like the 11630 case, perfect size and really suits a bracelet.
Footnote - I'm now officially calling this watch the Jagger!
Well my Jagger homage anyway after Jeff's article showing the Mick Jagger wearing a 70's Autavia with a decompression bezel :-)
see Jeff's article here.

Breitling Navitimer Chrono-Matic 1806

Some more pics of this cracking watch.
I'm loving this Calibre 11 cousin.
I didn't appreciate the trick bezel/scale before - turn the bezel and the scale moves but the glass doesn't - magic :-)
Alas, no magic involved though - it's all done with mechanics.
